Yoga is what MindBody Wisdom considers a mindfulness based movement therapy.


What is Yoga


Yoga is an ancient meditative movement practice that originated in India. Yoga consists of slow and mindful movements into different postures while focusing on breathing and body awareness.


Many people use yoga these days to improve their health and functioning. There are several well done research studies that indicate yoga as effective in improving chronic back pain.  According the the National Center for Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), a subsidiary of the National Institute of Health (NIH) some research suggests that Yoga is helpful in improving quality of life; reducing stress; lowering heart rate and blood pressure; help relieving anxiety, depression, and insomnia; and improve overall physical fitness, strength, and flexibility.


MINDBODY WISDOM offers two ways of experiencing yoga:


Group classes are taught by Yael Calhoun.


Individual yoga sessions are taught by Rachel Posner.
