Alan Fogel, Ph.D.  | Rosen Method

Alan Fogel is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He is the recipient of numerous teaching and research awards, a fellow of the American Psychological Association, and has been a Fulbright Fellow. He has been an active contributor to research on social and emotional development in early childhood for the past 33 years.

Stemming from his interest in how infants develop in a socio-sensory-emotional world, Dr. Fogel developed a clinical practice in Rosen Method Bodywork ( This is a treatment modality for adults combining touch and talk with the goal of enhancing client embodied self-awareness.

On the basis of his clinical experience, research work, and scholarly investigations, Fogel authored The Psychophysiology of Self-Awareness: Rediscovering the Lost Art of Body Sense.  This builds upon his previous books, including Developing through Relationships and Change Processes in Relationships, to create a scientifically informed view of how our ability (or lack of it) to connect with our own bodies is regulated via our interactions with significant others.

In his research, writing, and clinical work, Dr. Fogel explores and shares the nuanced relationship between mind and body.  Not only a practitioner of the Rosen Method, but as a trainer of Rosen teachers nationally and internationally, Dr. Fogel is bringing the method and the perspective to an ever increasing audience.  In Salt Lake City, he maintains an individual private practice as well as teaching and practicing at MINDBODY WISDOM.
